Every Afghan Rug is one of a kind, beautifully handmade over weeks and months in homes and small workshops by Afghan families, some who have been doing this for generations. Using the same traditional techniques perfected over generations the rugs are weaved, dyed, washed, cut, and stretched on wood pile in preparation for use.
They are all brilliantly made, not only as beautiful works of art but also as a practical and unique rug of quality durable construction.

Some history:
War rugs represent the history of the war in Afghanistan. Afghani Rug makers make these rugs to express their feelings and show others some of the scenes they have experienced through life in a country that has suffered decades of conflict. Since around 1979 Afghan weavers have been incorporating the contemporary image of war into their rugs. Following 9/11 and the invasion of Afghanistan, the twin towers, helicopters, hand grenades, and even predator drones have begun to feature in the intricate designs.

All rugs are packaged and sent within 4 days but usually much sooner, we aim to ship within 24 hours if possible!
We have not found a country we can not ship to yet!-)
All import taxes are paid by customer, we try to limit these as much as possible by putting the value of the package as low as possible and we very rarely have any issues with rugs and antiques going into the USA or Europe. But occasionally there is a charge, just letting you know x
