Antique Australian Poison Bottle – “NOT TO BE TAKEN” – Amber Hexagonal with Raised Warning Studs – A.G.M. Marked – c.1910–1930

Description:
A classic and highly collectible antique Australian poison bottle, embossed with the unmistakable warning “NOT TO BE TAKEN” along the front panel and featuring raised tactile studs covering the adjoining faces. These studded patterns were designed as a physical safety cue, allowing the bottle to be identified by touch in dim light — a characteristic of early 20th-century poison and hazardous chemical packaging.

This example is blown in machine-moulded amber glass with a tooled lip, hexagonal body, and strong, crisp embossing. The base is clearly marked with the early A.G.M. (Australian Glass Manufacturers Co.) logo — a tall tower-form maker’s emblem — along with the mould code M 422 M and a small H, typical of Australian pharmaceutical and chemical glass produced between c.1910 and 1930.

A genuine piece of early Australian industrial and medical history, this bottle displays beautifully and represents a textbook example of local poison-bottle manufacture.
