Antique Japanese Multi-Face Character Teapot – Hyottoko, Okame & Oni – Hand-Painted Porcelain (c.1910-1930s)

Condition:
Good antique condition with age-related wear. Light surface crazing and minor enamel fading consistent with its age. No major cracks or repairs noted. Presents beautifully

Description:
Rare and highly collectible Japanese multi-face character teapot, featuring a series of expressive faces including Hyottoko (the comical man), Okame/Otafuku (the joyful woman), and Oni (demon or spirit). Each side reveals a different hand-painted face, symbolising humour, good fortune, and protection from evil in traditional Japanese folklore.

Crafted in Japan during the late Meiji to early Showa era (circa 1910–1930s), this unique figural teapot was likely produced for export or as a decorative novelty. Made of glazed porcelain with vivid hand-painted detailing and natural age patina from nearly a century of display.

An excellent conversation piece and a fine example of early 20th-century Japanese ceramic artistry.
