Description:
A striking mid–late 20th-century hand-carved eagle sculpture from Indonesia (likely Bali or Java), carved from solid suar wood. This dramatic piece depicts a large eagle with fully outstretched wings perched above two smaller young birds at the base. The sculpture shows the characteristic carving language, warm amber tone, and faceted gouge texture associated with Balinese/Indonesian workshop carving from the 1960s–1990s export period.
The wings are sharply articulated with bold V-gouge cuts, while the underside retains the original hand-tooled carving marks. Suar wood provides a rich, variegated surface with natural colour transitions from light honey to deeper brown. An impressive display piece with strong presence and craftsmanship.
