Description: A lively set of four vintage hand-carved wooden figurines depicting classic nautical characters, including two sailors with steins, a fisherman with a net pole, and a tall captain in his bright jacket and cap. Each figure is individually carved and hand-painted, showcasing the bold, faceted cuts and exaggerated features typical of mid-century coastal folk-art traditions from Scandinavia and Northern Europe.
Produced circa 1950s to 1970s, these figurines reflect the charm, humour, and personality associated with small workshop and cottage-industry carvers who specialised in maritime subjects. With their rosy cheeks, stout silhouettes, and expressive postures, they make a highly characterful display whether arranged as a unified group or scattered individually.

Free in Victoria. Elsewhere in Australia it’s $15, $20 or $30 depending on size, and overseas $40, $60 or $85. Express is $15 more. Everything is insured and tracked. Outside Australia, any import tax is paid by the buyer.
Can I see it in person?
Yes. The shop is at 221 Gilbert Rd, Preston, open Thursday to Sunday, 10:30am to 6:30pm. Text Aaron first if you want this one put aside.
